In our garden and local area, we have discovered many different breeding birds, a lot of which we can completely confirm. House sparrows, wrens, blue tits and possibly long tailed tits, due to their numbers here. But this evening, we had a whopping new edition to the list.
Earlier this season, we noticed a group of blackcaps being quite active in the ash tree. 2 males and a female. But then, we didn’t see them for a while. But now it seems, I can piece together the whole story. It seems one of the males won, and they’ve been keeping a low profile as they’ve been breeding. Annoyingly, I was at school when the fledgling showed up, but my Mum got a picture and we compared it with other fledgling photos. It was an almost perfect match.
So there we have it. A baby blackcap. Try saying that five times fast.
