I was up in my bedroom and was reading my bird book again. Suddenly, I heard a shout from the front door. I rushed down the stairs to see what was up.
I was told by my Dad that he had seen a strange bird fly up into the trees at the top of the building site. I grabbed my binoculars and slowly started scanning the trees. Surprisingly, I didn’t have to look for long. A medium sized bird of prey glided with a high speed to the nearest tree. I managed to get him in my binoculars. From this distance, the breast looked bright pink! This could only mean one thing. Sparrowhawk…… He frequented the building site for about 10 minutes, gliding and gliding low over the sand.
He never actually caught anything though.
Better luck next time!
