The Ultimate Bird Quiz: Week 6

I’m running a bit late this week so bear with me. This week’s quiz is population themed. Can you estimate these UK bird populations?

  1. The black grouse has undergone prolonged declines in the UK. How many males are left?

2. The chaffinch is a common garden bird, but can you estimate how many breeding pairs there are?

3. The golden pheasant is a very rare introduced UK bird. But how many pairs actually breed?

4. A shy but widespread bird, the grey wagtail is striking. But how many pairs breed in the UK?

5. A crow of Scotland and Ireland, the hooded crow is a very hard bird to find in England and Wales. How many pairs breed though?
